LPS corals occupy a different nutritional niche to SPS. Species like Lobophyllia, Euphyllia, Trachyphyllia, Cynarina, and Goniopora live naturally in deeper reef zones where light is reduced, and they depend heavily on direct particulate feeding rather than photosynthesis to meet their energy needs. Feeding them well means getting food to the polyp, not just into the water column.

Vitalis LPS Coral Pellets are a complementary feed developed specifically for this purpose. The 1.5mm soft, slow-sinking pellets are sized to suit the larger feeding tentacles of LPS species and formulated to trigger an immediate feeding response. Composition is fish and fish derivatives, molluscs and crustaceans, derivatives of vegetable origin, oils and fats, vitamins and minerals, with around 50% protein, 10% fat, and astaxanthin at 133mg/kg for colour support. Vitalis recommends feeding every other day by placing pellets directly onto open polyps using tongs, with flow pumps off during feeding. Remove any uneaten food afterwards. 60g pot.
